Abstract

Marie Curie, a Polish nationalized Frenchwoman, was the scientist who, together with her husband, Pierre, discovered two elements of the periodic table, polonium and radium, in an environment of economic deprivation. She will be the mother of two daughters, Irene and Eva. Irene, as an adult, will help her in the laboratory and will later win a Nobel Prize in Chemistry; her mother obtained two, one in Physics and one in Chemistry, thus becoming the first and only woman with this prestige in the history of the Nobel Prize, as well as the first professor at the Sorbonne University, France. The seventh art has immortalized the figure of Marie in five feature films.
