Atención a accidentes ofídicos en Petén
Resumen
Con el propósito de comprender los significados de las prácticas populares deprevención y tratamiento del accidente ofídico en Petén, Guatemala, se realizó una investigación cualitativa por el método fenomenológico. Se entrevistaron aprofundidad a 10 participantes campesinos de las aldeas El Caoba y San Andrés. Se identificaron ocho categorías descriptivas: (1) Matar a la serpiente por prevención(2) El intento de extracción del veneno, (3) La aplicación de torniquete, (4) Laingestión de brebajes, (5) La aplicación de sustancias en la herida, (6) La inyecciónde suero antiofídico en el campo, (7) Valor y actitud positiva, (10) Prohibición moralde tomar agua. Los hallazgos del presente estudio idiográfico indican que la nociónde la venenosidad de las serpientes ocupa un lugar muy importante en el imaginariode la gente del campo y que la persona víctima de accidente ofídico echa mano devarios recursos en su carrera por la supervivencia.Descargas
