Abstract

Abstract

A analysis was developed to measure accumulated energy in tectonic faults in real time and the activation energy necessary to begin a significant seism. The method was applied on historic data of faults located in Guatemala, California, Nevada, Haiti, Italy, Chile, Russia, Argentina, Alaska, Philippines and China, and demonstrated that it lets the estimation of energy e activation of a fault with an error inferior to 10%. It results convenient to diagnosis the seismic risk of a defined geographic zone.
